Mahina — The Moon
In Hawaiian, mahina means moonlight — the soft, reliable glow that guides without blinding, that reveals rather than exposes. The moon is not the source of light; it is the faithful reflector of it. It waxes and wanes not from inconsistency but from the honest acknowledgment that all living things move in cycles.
We named our work after the moon because we believe wellness is not a destination reached once and held forever. It is a practice of returning — returning to stillness, to nourishment, to the body, to the breath. Each return is not a regression but a revolution: a full turn of the wheel that brings you back changed.
When you arrive at Mahina Ola, we are not asking you to perform wellness. We are simply asking you to be present in the cycle you are in — and to let us walk the arc of it with you.

Ola — Life, Vitality, Well-Being
Ola is one of the most layered words in the Hawaiian language. It means life. It also means health, vitality, salvation, and healing. It is a verb as much as a noun — to live, to thrive, to be well. When a Hawaiian elder says 'ola,' they are not describing a state; they are describing a practice of aliveness.
At Mahina Ola, ola is our north star. Not longevity metrics or biomarkers or optimal performance — but the felt sense of being alive, connected, and whole. The kind of vitality that arises when mind, body, and spirit are aligned and when the environment around you supports rather than depletes you.
